Assembly Quality Engineer


Day to Day

Today, in the morning you may be responding to a final line audit issue and working the corrective action with the line supervisor. In the afternoon, you may be auditing the corrective action with the line supervisor and other stakeholders to ensure the customer is protected. Tomorrow, you may be working with the process engineer on a PFMEA, process control parameters, and the resulting control plan for a new assembly process. You may also be working on a FPY issue. Your overall daily responsibility would include developing a quality system that ensures defects are not forwarded to our customers. Continuous improvement in the quality metrics is a focus for the assembly line.

What You Will Do
Lead the quality effort for the assembly line to meet operational metrics.
Supervisor the final line auditor that is assigned to each line.
Work with the process engineer to establish control parameters for all processes performed at the assembly line. Audit those processes after implementing to assure compliance.
Track and identify projects to address FPY issues on the ine to meet aggressive targets. Implement changes to address those issues as necessary.
Lead the corrective action effort on any final line audit (CAL) failures. Identify process improvements to eliminate potential defects or detection improvements to assure the defect cannot slip through our quality system.
Identify emerging issues in our SIR system and respond immediately to those issues with detection and process controls as warranted.
Manage multiple tasks and provide frequent oral/written communication to supervisor or related departments.

Qualifications

What You Need To Succeed
BS in Engineering from an accredited university
Minimum 3 years experience in a quality or process engineering role
Advanced technical degree, Black Belt and/or CQE certification are a plus
Understanding and practical application of fundamental quality tools and statistics used for problem solving
Experience in applying technical knowledge to solve a range of problems
Strong communication skills, effectively sharing and obtaining information from internal and external parties
Ability to work any shift as required
Ability to work cooperatively with people at all levels of the organization
In-depth computer skills related to specific needs of the position
Successful candidate must have excellent oral and written skills
Strong decision making skills, with a drive to proactively obtain complete and accurate information
Ability to work in a manufacturing and office environment, walk long distances, stand on feet for long periods of time, minor lifting (generally 30 lbs or less) and travel by care and airplane (typically 15% or less).

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
